Top-rated independent heating and cooling across Tampa Bay and Florida's Gulf Coast

AC Replacement

We replace failing residential air conditioning systems across Florida and Georgia, swapping out the old condenser, indoor coil and air handler and correcting the parts of the install that shortened the last system's life. Homeowners usually call us when repairs are stacking up, the compressor has quit, or an old unit can no longer pull humidity out of a slab home. If your AC is more than a decade old and cooling has gone soft, call us for a replacement assessment and we will tell you honestly whether repair still makes sense.

Whether you call it AC replacement, air conditioner replacement or new AC installation, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.

What an AC replacement job actually involves

A replacement is a day of real work, not a parts swap. We recover the old refrigerant properly, pull the condenser and indoor coil, and inspect the line set, drain and electrical before anything new goes in. Plenums and transitions often need rebuilding because the original ones were undersized. We set the new equipment, braze and pressure test the lines, vacuum the system, charge it to the manufacturer's spec and verify airflow. Then we run it and watch the numbers before we pack up.

What we check and what we install

Before quoting, we measure the home and check duct sizing, static pressure, return capacity and insulation, because a bigger BTU number in a leaky duct system just makes short cycles and clammy rooms. On install day we typically set a matched condenser and coil, a new pad or stand, a float switch on the drain, a fresh disconnect and whip if the old one is corroded, and a thermostat that matches the equipment staging. Coastal air eats aluminium fins, so drainage and clearance get real attention.

How we decide replacement is the right call

We recommend replacement when the compressor or coil has failed, when the system uses a refrigerant that is expensive and getting scarce, or when repairs in the last two seasons add up to a meaningful share of a new system. Age alone is not enough. If a capacitor, contactor or a leaking service valve is the real problem, we say so and fix it. Humidity is the other tell. A unit that cools to setpoint but leaves the house damp is usually oversized or worn out.

AC Replacement — quick answers

Should I replace the indoor unit at the same time as the outdoor unit?

Almost always yes. A new condenser paired with an old indoor coil rarely matches, which hurts capacity, humidity removal and reliability. Mismatched pairs also complicate future air conditioner repair and can void equipment warranty coverage.

How long does an AC replacement take?

Most straight swaps in a single-family home take one day. If ducts, plenums, drains or electrical need rework, or access is tight in an older condo, plan on a second day. We tell you which before we start.

Can I keep my existing ductwork?

Often, if it is sized right and sealed. We measure static pressure and return capacity first. Undersized or leaky duct runs will choke a new system, so we repair or resize sections rather than ignore the problem.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a clicking outdoor unit, water on the floor. Details help us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical side, refrigerant behavior, and the coil. Coils foul fast in coastal air, so we look there early. You get the finding in plain language before work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and watch it. Supply temperature, drain flow, amp draw, and how the house actually feels. If the fix needs a follow-up part, we tell you that day.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity gets equal weightCold air alone is not comfort. On slab homes and older condos, a system can hit temperature and still leave the rooms clammy. We look at run time, airflow, and drainage so the house dries out instead of just chilling.
  • Coastal wear is expectedSalt air chews condenser fins and contactors. We check for corrosion, weak capacitors, and fouled coils as part of the diagnosis, because in this region those are causes rather than afterthoughts.
  • Heat gets attention tooFurnace repair, heat pump reversing valve trouble, and heat strip failures all come through in the cooler months. Georgia homes lean on heat harder than Florida homes, and we service both ends of the region.
  • No mystery invoicesYou hear what failed, what it takes to fix, and what we found nearby that may fail next. If a repair does not make sense on an old system, we say so instead of stacking parts on it.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
