What a multi-zone repair actually involves
Multi-zone work is diagnostic before it is mechanical. We read the fault history stored in the outdoor unit, then follow the wiring and refrigerant path to the head that is misbehaving. On a four-head system the fix is often in one branch line, not the condenser, so we isolate circuits rather than condemn the whole system. That means checking each indoor coil temperature, each drain, and the low-voltage communication loop that ties the heads together. We explain what we found before anything gets replaced.

Repairs range from a clogged condensate line to a failed expansion valve coil.

Most visits finish the same day.

Older systems may need a parts order, and we tell you that up front.
What we check on site
We start at the indoor heads: filters, blower wheel condition, coil cleanliness, and drain flow. Coastal and humid air loads these coils fast, and a fouled coil mimics a refrigerant problem. Then we move outside to check the condenser coil, fan, and electrical connections. From there we test the communication wiring between heads, verify each zone's expansion valve is responding, and measure operating pressures and temperature split per circuit. We also confirm the thermostat or remote settings match how the room is actually being used.
How we decide repair is the right call
We repair when the failure is contained and the rest of the system is sound. One bad head on an otherwise healthy multi-zone setup is a repair. A condenser with a failed compressor on a system that has been leaking for years is a different conversation, and we lay out both paths with what each one buys you. Age matters, refrigerant type matters, and parts availability matters. If a head is discontinued we say so rather than chasing a part that will not come. You decide from there.

Why does one indoor head blow warm while the others cool?
That usually means the expansion valve or branch line serving that zone is not opening, or that circuit has lost charge. It can also be a communication fault. We test each circuit separately to find which.
Can you repair one head without replacing the whole multi-zone system?
Often yes. Heads are individually serviceable, and many failures are drain, blower, or control board issues on that unit alone. We only recommend full replacement when the outdoor condenser itself is finished.
Why is my multi-zone system turning on and off constantly?
Short cycling on multi-zone equipment often comes from an oversized system for the zones actually calling, a fouled coil, low charge, or a sensor reading wrong. We measure before changing anything.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill out the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a clicking outdoor unit, water on the floor. Details help us load the right parts before we drive out.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical side, refrigerant behavior, and the coil. Coils foul fast in coastal air, so we look there early. You get the finding in plain language before work starts.
- Step 3
Repair and verify
We make the repair, then run the system and watch it. Supply temperature, drain flow, amp draw, and how the house actually feels. If the fix needs a follow-up part, we tell you that day.

Why homeowners call us
- Humidity gets equal weightCold air alone is not comfort. On slab homes and older condos, a system can hit temperature and still leave the rooms clammy. We look at run time, airflow, and drainage so the house dries out instead of just chilling.
- Coastal wear is expectedSalt air chews condenser fins and contactors. We check for corrosion, weak capacitors, and fouled coils as part of the diagnosis, because in this region those are causes rather than afterthoughts.
- Heat gets attention tooFurnace repair, heat pump reversing valve trouble, and heat strip failures all come through in the cooler months. Georgia homes lean on heat harder than Florida homes, and we service both ends of the region.
- No mystery invoicesYou hear what failed, what it takes to fix, and what we found nearby that may fail next. If a repair does not make sense on an old system, we say so instead of stacking parts on it.
- All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
- Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
