UV Lights & Ventilation

We install and service ultraviolet lights and fresh-air ventilation as part of indoor air quality work on residential HVAC systems across Florida and Georgia. Homeowners usually call us when a coil keeps growing slime in humid weather, when the air smells musty every time the AC starts, or when a tightly sealed house feels stale. Call us and describe what you smell and when. We will look at the system you already have before we recommend adding anything to it.

What the job involves

A UV light install means mounting a lamp inside the air handler so it shines on the evaporator coil and the drain pan, which is where biological growth starts in humid climates. Ventilation work is different. That is bringing measured outdoor air into the return side, or improving exhaust so moisture and odors leave the house instead of circulating. Both jobs involve cutting into the cabinet or duct, wiring the fixture, and confirming airflow did not change. We handle the electrical side, not the homeowner.

What we check or install

Before we quote a lamp, we open the air handler and look at the coil, the blower wheel, and the drain pan. If a coil is already fouled, cleaning comes first, because a UV light slows new growth and does not undo old buildup. We check filter fit, return leaks pulling attic air, and whether the duct system is actually moving what it should. For ventilation, we look at how the house is sealed, bath and kitchen exhaust, and where humidity is coming from.

How we decide it is the right call

UV lights make sense when the problem is on the coil and the drain pan, so recurring musty smell at startup, visible growth, or a system that gets dirty fast in coastal humidity. They are not a fix for dust, pollen, or a bad filter. Ventilation makes sense when the house is tight, when odors linger, or when carbon dioxide and stuffiness build in closed rooms. If humidity control is the real issue, we say so and address that first instead of selling a lamp.

UV Lights & Ventilation — quick answers

Will a UV light stop dust in my house?

No. UV lamps target biological growth on the coil and drain pan inside the air handler. Dust and pollen are a filtration and duct sealing question, so we look at filter fit and return leaks separately.

How often does the lamp need replacing?

Most UV lamps lose output long before they stop glowing, so they get replaced on a schedule, generally about once a year. We check output and the coil condition during maintenance visits and tell you when it is due.

Does adding outdoor air make my AC work harder?

Bringing in outdoor air adds some heat and humidity load, which is why the amount has to be measured rather than guessed. We size ventilation to the house and confirm your system can handle the added moisture.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a clicking outdoor unit, water on the floor. Details help us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical side, refrigerant behavior, and the coil. Coils foul fast in coastal air, so we look there early. You get the finding in plain language before work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and watch it. Supply temperature, drain flow, amp draw, and how the house actually feels. If the fix needs a follow-up part, we tell you that day.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity gets equal weightCold air alone is not comfort. On slab homes and older condos, a system can hit temperature and still leave the rooms clammy. We look at run time, airflow, and drainage so the house dries out instead of just chilling.
  • Coastal wear is expectedSalt air chews condenser fins and contactors. We check for corrosion, weak capacitors, and fouled coils as part of the diagnosis, because in this region those are causes rather than afterthoughts.
  • Heat gets attention tooFurnace repair, heat pump reversing valve trouble, and heat strip failures all come through in the cooler months. Georgia homes lean on heat harder than Florida homes, and we service both ends of the region.
  • No mystery invoicesYou hear what failed, what it takes to fix, and what we found nearby that may fail next. If a repair does not make sense on an old system, we say so instead of stacking parts on it.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
