Duct Sealing

Duct sealing closes the leaks in your duct system so the air your AC paid to cool actually reaches your rooms. We do this work across Florida and Georgia, in slab homes with ducts in the attic and in older condos where old tape has let go at every joint. If some rooms never cool, the attic feels like it is being air conditioned, or your air conditioner runs without ever satisfying the thermostat, call us and we will look at the duct system before anything else.

What the job involves

We start at the air handler and work outward, checking plenum connections, boots at each register, and every branch takeoff. Leaks get cleaned and sealed with mastic and mesh, not tape that dries out in a hot attic. Loose boots are refastened to the ceiling or floor and sealed at the drywall. Where insulation has been torn open around a leak, we close the jacket back up so the sealed duct does not sweat. Then we run the system and confirm airflow at the registers we were called about.

What we check and what we install

We look at static pressure, register temperatures, the return path, and whether the duct sizing matches what the equipment moves. In attics we check for crushed flex, disconnected runs lying on insulation, and rusted sheet metal at the plenum. What goes back in is mastic, mesh tape, proper strapping and support, new boot connections where the old ones are gone, and insulation repair. If a run is too far gone to seal, we tell you it needs replacing instead of patching it and charging you twice.

How we decide sealing is the right call

Sealing makes sense when the ductwork is sound but leaking at joints and boots. If flex is torn along its length, if the duct is undersized for the air handler, or if returns are choking the system, sealing alone will not fix comfort and we will say so. Humidity is the tell in our region. A duct system pulling hot attic air in will keep indoor humidity high no matter how long the AC runs. We measure, show you what we found, and give you the honest option.

Duct Sealing — quick answers

Will duct sealing help with humidity?

Often yes. Leaky returns pull hot, damp attic air into the system, which loads the coil with moisture it cannot keep up with. Sealing the return side frequently drops indoor humidity noticeably.

How do I know my ducts are leaking?

Common signs are one room that never cools, dust that keeps coming back after cleaning, an attic that feels cooler than it should, and an air conditioner that runs long cycles without reaching setpoint.

Is sealing enough, or do I need new ductwork?

It depends on the condition. Sound duct leaking at joints and boots seals well. Torn flex, crushed runs, or duct undersized for the equipment need replacement, and we will tell you which you have.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a clicking outdoor unit, water on the floor. Details help us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical side, refrigerant behavior, and the coil. Coils foul fast in coastal air, so we look there early. You get the finding in plain language before work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and watch it. Supply temperature, drain flow, amp draw, and how the house actually feels. If the fix needs a follow-up part, we tell you that day.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity gets equal weightCold air alone is not comfort. On slab homes and older condos, a system can hit temperature and still leave the rooms clammy. We look at run time, airflow, and drainage so the house dries out instead of just chilling.
  • Coastal wear is expectedSalt air chews condenser fins and contactors. We check for corrosion, weak capacitors, and fouled coils as part of the diagnosis, because in this region those are causes rather than afterthoughts.
  • Heat gets attention tooFurnace repair, heat pump reversing valve trouble, and heat strip failures all come through in the cooler months. Georgia homes lean on heat harder than Florida homes, and we service both ends of the region.
  • No mystery invoicesYou hear what failed, what it takes to fix, and what we found nearby that may fail next. If a repair does not make sense on an old system, we say so instead of stacking parts on it.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
