Duct Replacement

We replace failed and leaking duct systems in homes across Florida and Georgia, and if your rooms never even out or your ducts have been patched more than once, call us and we will look at the whole system before quoting anything. Duct replacement means removing old flex or sheet metal runs, the plenums and boots, and rebuilding the distribution so air actually reaches the rooms it was sized for. It is the right call when repair stops holding. Start with a walkthrough and an inspection of the attic or crawl runs.

What a duct replacement job involves

We start in the attic, crawl space or above the slab ceiling and map what is there: run lengths, sizes, sags, disconnected boots, crushed sections. Then we pull the old material out, rebuild or replace the supply and return plenums, and install new insulated runs with proper support so they are not lying on framing or kinked around a truss. Registers and boots get sealed to the drywall. We finish by checking airflow at each room and balancing what we can with dampers. Most homes are done in a day or two.

What we check and what we install

Before we install anything we check static pressure at the air handler, return sizing, filter location and the temperature split across the coil. Undersized returns are common in older homes and near the Gulf they show up as a sweating air handler and a system that never pulls humidity down. We install correctly sized insulated flex or hard pipe, sealed plenums, new boots and grilles, and we add return capacity where the numbers call for it. Duct insulation matters in hot attics, so we do not reuse thin or wet material.

How we decide replacement beats repair

Repair wins when the problem is local: one torn run, one loose boot, one collapsed section. Replacement makes sense when the insulation is soaked or mouse-chewed, when the inner liner is shedding, when runs are the wrong size for the equipment, or when we have already sealed the same system twice and leakage is back. Age plus condition decides it, not age alone. We will tell you plainly which one we think you need, show you the photos from the attic, and let you choose.

Duct Replacement — quick answers

Will new ducts help with humidity?

Often yes. Leaky returns pull hot attic air into the system, which loads it with moisture. Sealed, correctly sized ducts let the coil run long enough to actually dry the air in your home.

Do I need new ducts when I replace the AC?

Not always, but it is the right time to check. New equipment moves air differently, and ducts sized for the old system can leave you with noise, weak rooms and high static pressure.

How disruptive is the work?

We work mostly overhead in the attic or below in the crawl space. Expect us in and out of rooms to change registers, drop cloths down, and the system off for part of the day.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a clicking outdoor unit, water on the floor. Details help us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical side, refrigerant behavior, and the coil. Coils foul fast in coastal air, so we look there early. You get the finding in plain language before work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and watch it. Supply temperature, drain flow, amp draw, and how the house actually feels. If the fix needs a follow-up part, we tell you that day.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity gets equal weightCold air alone is not comfort. On slab homes and older condos, a system can hit temperature and still leave the rooms clammy. We look at run time, airflow, and drainage so the house dries out instead of just chilling.
  • Coastal wear is expectedSalt air chews condenser fins and contactors. We check for corrosion, weak capacitors, and fouled coils as part of the diagnosis, because in this region those are causes rather than afterthoughts.
  • Heat gets attention tooFurnace repair, heat pump reversing valve trouble, and heat strip failures all come through in the cooler months. Georgia homes lean on heat harder than Florida homes, and we service both ends of the region.
  • No mystery invoicesYou hear what failed, what it takes to fix, and what we found nearby that may fail next. If a repair does not make sense on an old system, we say so instead of stacking parts on it.
  • All major brands, gas & electricCarrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York and more, as an independent company.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
