AC Not Cooling

When your AC runs but the house never gets cool, we diagnose and repair it. We work on air conditioning repair for homeowners across Florida and Georgia, in slab houses and older condos where humidity matters as much as temperature. Before you call, check the thermostat settings and batteries, look for a tripped breaker, change a loaded filter, clear grass and leaves from around the outdoor unit, and confirm the supply vents are open. If air still blows warm, call us and we will come look.

What an AC Not Cooling Call Involves

We start at the thermostat and follow the system from there. That means confirming the call for cooling is reaching the equipment, measuring temperature split across the indoor coil, and checking that the outdoor unit is running and moving air. A system that cools poorly is different from one that does not cool at all, and the split tells us which we have. We also look at how the house feels, because sticky air at 74 degrees points somewhere different than a warm house that never satisfies.

What We Check and Repair

Common causes near the coast are a fouled outdoor coil, a dirty indoor coil behind a filter nobody changed, a failed capacitor or contactor, a bad blower motor, or a refrigerant charge that is off because of a leak. We check drain lines and float switches too, since a full pan will shut a system down mid-afternoon. Duct problems and closed-off returns show up more than people expect. We report what we found, what it will take, and what can wait.

How We Decide Repair Is the Right Call

We weigh the age of the equipment, the part that failed, and whether the same problem has come back. A capacitor or contactor on a ten-year-old system is a straightforward air conditioner repair. A compressor failure or a refrigerant leak inside a rusting coil is a different conversation, and we will say so plainly. In older condos we also look at whether the current setup ever handled the humidity load. You get the options and the tradeoffs, then you choose.

AC Not Cooling — quick answers

Why is my AC running constantly but the house stays warm?

Usually a dirty coil, low refrigerant from a leak, or a failing compressor. It can also be a duct or airflow issue. Change the filter, clear debris off the outdoor unit, then call us for AC repair.

Should I turn the system off while I wait?

Yes, if it is blowing warm air or you hear ice forming. Running a system with a frozen coil or a struggling compressor can turn a small repair into a large one. Switch to fan only.

Why is my house cool but still feel damp?

The system may be short cycling or oversized, so it drops temperature without running long enough to pull moisture out. That is common in older homes. We measure and recommend a fix that addresses humidity.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a clicking outdoor unit, water on the floor. Details help us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical side, refrigerant behavior, and the coil. Coils foul fast in coastal air, so we look there early. You get the finding in plain language before work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and watch it. Supply temperature, drain flow, amp draw, and how the house actually feels. If the fix needs a follow-up part, we tell you that day.

Why homeowners call us

  • Humidity gets equal weightCold air alone is not comfort. On slab homes and older condos, a system can hit temperature and still leave the rooms clammy. We look at run time, airflow, and drainage so the house dries out instead of just chilling.
  • Coastal wear is expectedSalt air chews condenser fins and contactors. We check for corrosion, weak capacitors, and fouled coils as part of the diagnosis, because in this region those are causes rather than afterthoughts.
  • Heat gets attention tooFurnace repair, heat pump reversing valve trouble, and heat strip failures all come through in the cooler months. Georgia homes lean on heat harder than Florida homes, and we service both ends of the region.
  • No mystery invoicesYou hear what failed, what it takes to fix, and what we found nearby that may fail next. If a repair does not make sense on an old system, we say so instead of stacking parts on it.
